…since Gil Thorp was last published in the Chicago Tribune.
That all changed with the help of my dear friend Kori Rumore Finley (btw, you should totally buy her book). Thanks to her, I made a new friend for life over at the Tribune: Rick Kogan. Admittedly, I am not a fan of my giant mug taking up half of the page. But one of my pie-in-the-sky goals was to bring Gil back where he once belonged.
Kogan is a lifelong fan of the strip since his high school days. He had me on his WGN radio show when his profile was published in the Sunday edition. It’s rare when you meet a comic strip fan, radio, and newsman like myself. But it’s nice to know I’m not alone in this world.
The next goal is to publish my year of Gil Thorp and some of the original strips that ran in the Tribune 65 years ago. So far it looks like I’m batting a thousand. We shall see.
The end of the first storyline is coming to a close, but it’s a good time to become a regular reader. Trust me when I say we’re landing this plane back where we started.
Get ready. Get set. Go.
